Playboy, like other “lad mags,” has taken a hit in recent years thanks to the recession and free internet boobs, but seems to be showing some signs of recovery. The iconic men’s magazine is set to publish a total of 11 issues this year instead of the 10 for which it had originally planned. They’ll return to 12 issues in 2011.
Playboy struck a deal with American Media Inc. late last year to help tackle their debt and have since experienced a 5 percent increase in pages so far this year.
No word on what impact, if any, this will have on the magazine’s web or digital presence. The site’s former editor Scott Smith left his post late last month, citing “creative differences.”
