GDC 2015: WBIE Announces Four Upcoming Mobile Games

The games are based on top franchises and brands, including DC Comics and LEGO.

Batman Arkham Underworld

After yesterday’s announcement of Mortal Kombat X for mobile devices, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) has announced the development of four more mobile titles, based on top franchises and brands, including Game of Thrones and LEGO Batman.

First is Batman: Arkham Underworld. Developed by Turbine, the game will challenge players to build their own hideout and recruit and train an army of henchmen. Rather than looking to save Gotham City, the game will see players becoming Gotham City’s next criminal mastermind as they collect and control iconic villains from the franchise, including the Riddler, Harley Quinn and Killer Croc. Gamers can signup for the beta of the game on its official website.

Next up, LEGO Batman: Beyond Gotham from TT Games will see players leading the Caped Crusader as he joins forces with other superheroes in the DC Comics universe. The premium mobile title will challenge players to stop the evil Brainiac from destroying Earth, and is the mobile version of the console game LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.

Another superhero title, DC Comics Legends, is in development at WB Games San Francisco. The mobile RPG will allow players to collect famous DC Comics superheroes and villains, customizing their teams with the right heroes for each battle encounter.

Finally, an unnamed Game of Thrones title is being developed at Turbine. The combat strategy title is based on the popular HBO television series, and will challenge players to conquer Westeros as they control spies and armed forces on the battlefield. Players will “extend [their] dominance across the seven Kingdoms,” forming alliances with others as they rise to power.

In a statement, David Haddad, executive vice president and general manager of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, commented on the mobile lineup:

Our mobile business has been a key priority for the company, and we are utilizing our incredibly talented internal development teams to create games with marquee franchises. We’ve seen tremendous growth with our mobile business and expect to increase our market share by applying our best in class development, publishing and brand marketing to this impressive slate of games.

Check back soon for more on these titles, and Mortal Kombat X, as we move closer to release.
