The SF author George Martin is now the latest to join a new and (not-quite-so) exclusive club. Amazon announced today that Martin, author of such books as A Game of Thrones, Windhaven, and ,A Feast for Crows, has just sold his millionth Kindle eBook.
Martin is now the eleventh author to be inducted into the Kindle Million Club, and he joins Stieg Larsson, James Patterson, Nora Roberts, Charlaine Harris, Lee Child, Suzanne Collins, Michael Connelly, John Locke, Janet Evanovich and Kathryn Stockett in the Club.
“George R.R. Martin’s series is simply epic,” said Russ Grandinetti, Vice President of Kindle Content. “And an elaborate series like this is great on Kindle because you can turn the last page of book three at 10:30 at night, then buy book four and be on its first page at 10:31.”
This is just the latest award won in a 40-year-long writing career that includes awards in several genres, including such well-known awards as Locus, Hugo, Quill, and Nebula. Several of his novels and stories have also been made into movies and TV series, with the most notable being A Game of Thrones. It was up for 13 Emmy Awards last night, but it appears to have only won a single award.
