Giphy GIF Maker Lets Mobile Web Users Create GIFs Without an App

Users can upload their creations to Giphy or save them for sharing elsewhere

Giphy launched GIF Maker on the mobile web, allowing mobile users to create GIFs without downloading an application.

When using GIF Maker on the mobile web, users can create GIFs by importing images or video clips from their devices, or by taking new pictures within the GIF Maker. Users can add text to their GIFs, as well as animated stickers from Giphy’s library. Users can also draw animated paint, stickers and other effects (like glitter) onto their creations.

When a GIF is finished, users can upload the creation to Giphy or save the GIF to share via text message, on social media or elsewhere.

In a comment to Social Pro Daily, Jonny McLaughlin, director of engineering at Giphy, spoke about the release:

Our goal at Giphy is to empower users to be able to create GIF content anywhere—and everywhere. We’re particularly proud of how Giphy’s new GIF Maker for mobile web brings the feel and functionality of a native app into the everyday browser experience (and making it easy for users to create GIFs on the fly). Additionally, because all our features (such as Draw, Caption, Stickers) are animated, you can create animated GIFs from anything (static or moving).

Mobile users can access Giphy’s GIF Maker by going to this link in their browser.
