A Grassroots Prayer for Hollywood

As the Oscars countdown mercifully came to an end over the weekend, another Hollywood event was tending its website tick-tock clock. We are now just 16-days-and-change away from TheCRY Hollywood, a public prayer and fasting session at the Gibson Amphitheatre.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. March 15 and continue until no earlier than 10 p.m. and no later than midnight. The goal is to send all manner of uplifting prayer, dance and exhortation in Hollywood’s direction:

TheCRY Hollywood is not about a nation or even about a city. TheCRY Hollywood is about a sphere that is affecting a global generation. That sphere is entertainment media.

Because entertainment media affects America, Canada and the nations of the earth so profoundly TheCRY leadership, and a core of local Hollywood leaders, felt it was time to rally the nations to pray for this sphere that affects us all.

Tickets are available on a sliding-scale donation basis. TheCRY will be followed by a two-day conference, “This is That,” featuring such speakers as Christian Services Media head Patricia King and Canadian activist-author Faytene Grasseschi.

Regardless of where you stand on the topic of Church and Studio, the event tagline is pretty catchy: “It’s not a concert. It’s not a conference. It’s a cry.”
