Hachette Creates ‘Emerging Platforms’ Position to Develop Mobile-Device Presence

Looking to capitalize on an increasing number of distribution channels for its content, Hachette Filipacchi has promoted Florent Peyre to vice president – emerging platforms, a newly created position.

In his new role, Peyre will work on increasing the company’s presence on the iPad and other online and mobile platforms. He is moving up from his post as vice president of business and corporate development. Peyre recently worked on the rollout of Glo, a lifestyle-fashion Web collaboration between Hachette and MSN.

Hachette, which publishes Elle, Car and Driver, Premiere and other magazines, says it has six mobile sites, five iPhone apps and two iPad apps. More are on the way, the company says.

“New platforms such as iPad, e-readers, and tablets join mobile to present exciting opportunities for content producers like us,” said
