Blizzard Entertainment launched a new campaign for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, which gives users the opportunity to win at least one free card pack by choosing a champion in the 2016 Hearthstone World Championship tournament.
To participate in this event, a user can log in to their Battle.net account on the web and select one of the 16 finalists participating in the championship to be their “champion.” Once a user has made a selection, it can’t be changed.
In a blog post, Blizzard elaborated on the selection process:
You may cast your vote starting now until Oct. 25 at 11:59 p.m. PT, when Opening Week begins. Voting will then be closed during Opening Week. If you happen to miss the first voting period, don’t fret! We’ll reopen voting after Opening Week has concluded and let anyone that missed out vote for a champion before BlizzCon begins. The second voting period will close at 11:59 p.m. Nov. 3, prior to the start of the BlizzCon bracket stage.
Each participant in this event will receive one free card pack from “The Grand Tournament” expansion for selecting a champion, and they will receive one additional card pack from “The Grand Tournament” for each “best-of-seven” match their selected champion wins during the tournament.
If you have already voted during the first voting period, you will not be able to vote again during the second voting period, as your vote will have already been locked in. You are only eligible to receive additional packs for any matches your champion wins after you have chosen them. If you vote during the first voting period, you can earn up to six total packs (including your participation pack) depending on how well your champion performs. If you vote during the second voting period, you can earn up to four total packs (including your participation pack).
The Grand Finals of the 2016 Hearthstone World Championship tournament will take place during BlizzCon Nov. 5. Blizzard said players will receive their free in-game card pack(s) the week after BlizzCon.
