Hipmunk brought its flight search app to Android. Like the iPhone version and the website, the new free Android app incorporates an agony factor when sorting flights. It also indicates if WiFi is available in-flight. Once a flight is identified, it can be booked right from the app, from a desktop computer or emailed to someone else.
Hipmunk comes to Android with a surprisingly slick app (GigaOm)
GigaOm’s Colleen Taylor was impressed by the interface design. Hipmunk’s Android app interface has a flatter look than the iPhone version’s raised chiclet look. Functionally, the Android and iPhone versions are said to be identical.
The current version for the iPhone has an average customer rating of 5 stars (out of possible 5) while the Android version has an average rating of 4 stars. The Android version’s lower rating appears to be due to people reporting the app crashing some Android phone models (HTC Wildfire S, HTC Legend). You can find the app in the Android Market at:
