HP and Barnes & Noble Launch Co-Branded eBookstore

It’s got a tongue-twister for a URL, but this partnership between hardware manufacturer HP and bookselling giant Barnes & Noble is going to create a pipeline to Barnes & Noble’s eBooks from every HP device at HP.BN.com.

The store, unveiled last week, will be linked on all new HP computers. HP also announced plans to pre-install Barnes & Noble’s eReader app on new HP machines. Click here for the official press release.

According to Times Newsline, Kevin Frain, Executive Vice President of E commerce for Barnes & Noble, said, “We expect that there is going to be a lot of digital reading that is consumed on devices that aren’t specifically targeted to e-reading, such as laptops and netbooks.”

Well, he may or may not be right–would you read a book on a laptop?–but this agreement means a much bigger presence for the Barnes & Noble eReading platform.
