The Huffington Post launched HuffPost Food yesterday, and an arts section will be up by the end of the month. Initially the sites will have national coverage, but will eventually develop into local coverage for New York, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles. Arianna Huffington told paidContent the new sections were not part of any master plan to expand HuffPo’s purview, but with traditional arts coverage hurting in the wake of budget cuts and layoffs, one has to wonder about the possibilities. And the restaurant reviews the food section plans to feature wouldn’t exactly scare away advertisers. Let’s just hope critics for the new sites are going to get paid.
