The Huffington Post launched an afternoon email newsletter focused on politics in Washington, D.C., HuffPost Hill, and it said topics covered will include news, opinion, previews of the next day’s stories, gossip, sightings, and tips on upcoming TV appearances and fund-raisers.
HuffPost chief congressional correspondent Ryan Grim will be HuffPost Hill’s editor, and it will be written by Eliot Nelson, with contributions from: chief White House correspondent Sam Stein; Arthur Delaney, who covers K Street; national editor Nico Pitney; senior Washington correspondent Dan Froomkin; media editor Jason Linkins; business reporter Shahien Nasiripour; associate business editor Ryan McCarthy; and contributing business editor Simon Johnson. Nora McAlvanah, former editor of National Journal‘s Wake-Up Call and Last Call, helped to create the email newsletter.
HuffPost co-founder and editor in chief Arianna Huffington said:
We’re delighted to offer HuffPost Hill as an afternoon fix for political junkies craving to know more, from what’s really happening on the Hill and who’s in and who’s out at the White House to the latest D.C. news and buzz. It’s a new media spin on the old afternoon newspaper — both a breezy and useful daily recap and a timely look at what’s ahead — more than likely to be read on a Blackberry, iPhone, or Android.
The idea for a daily D.C. newsletter came as my colleagues and I kept hearing all of these great news tidbits from around town that were otherwise going to waste. It occurred to us that if we collected all of the interesting stuff we overheard and added highlights of what the beltway was buzzing about, we could create a daily read as compelling as it is insightful for those who work in politics and those who really care about it.
