HuffPost Streaming Video, Super Bowl, and a Spotify Playlist [Podcast]

On today’s Morning Media Menu (MP3 link), Social Times joined Jason Boog, the editor of our sister blog, GalleyCat for a chat about some of our top stories in social media this week, from the Huffington Post’s new streaming network to themed playlists on Spotify.

Jason and I wondered aloud whether Huffington Post’s new streaming video network is asking for it by inviting people who comment on their posts to appear on their shows. (We volunteer to be their test dummies.)

We also talked about the newly installed social media command center at the Super Bowl this year.  They’re monitoring 300 keywords related to the event to keep things running smoothly. Jason suspects the phrase “[insert team here] sucks” might be near the top of that list.

Finally, while the aforementioned institutions are getting into social media, other  people are getting out of it. Jason made a great playlist of the best letter writing music on Spotify to motivate readers who are taking author Mary Robinette Kowal’s challenge to write a letter every day for a month. When was the last time you sent a letter in the mail?
