  • The New York Photo Festival is here! Now in its third year (and with a timeless identity designed by Pentagram), the event transforms Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood into a whirl of exhibitions, events, and brilliantly composed images. Guest curators Vince Aletti, Erik Kessels, Fred Ritchin, and Lou Reed have assembled a stellar quartet of main shows, while satellite exhibitions feature work from around the globe, including Latin America, North Korea, and Slovenia. Head over tomorrow evening to find out who triumphs in the New York Photo Awards. The ceremony will include New York Times Magazine picture editor Kathy Ryan‘s presentation of the inaugural NYPF Lifetime Achievement Award to photographer Marc Garanger
  • More of a type type? Don’t miss AIGA/NY’s Type Forecast, an in-depth look at the future of fonts that takes place tomorrow evening in Manhattan. Typography prophets Jessica Hische, Georg Seifert, Joshua Darden, and Matteo Bologna will discuss everything from lettering and foundries to customization and licensing. Learn more here
  • Former I.D. magazine Jesse Ashlock has been named senior editor of Details, reports WWD. He succeeds Adam Laukhuf, who left the magazine to puruse other opportunities. Before taking the helm at dearly departed I.D. last May, Ashlock was editor of VMan.

  • Want proof that art and charity can go hand in hand? Check out The Working Proof, a new site that sells affordable, limited-edition prints that are paired with a charity of the artist’s choice. Founded by printmakers Anna Corpron and Sean Auyeung, the online venture aims to showcase emerging artists and promote a variety of charities. Fifteen percent of the sale of each print goes to the designated cause, which means you can pick up Caitlin Keegan‘s funky, engraving-inspired print of a rooster and donate to Farm Sanctuary (all for $30 plus shipping). Avoid speedy sell-outs by checking in with The Working Proof on Tuesday afternoons, when a new print is released every week.
