Injured USC Running Back Starts Tweeting

USC running back Stafon Johnson still cannot speak as the result of a freak weightlifting accident Monday, in which he suffered serious injuries and underwent emergency throat surgery, but he can still tweet.

Johnson started a Twitter account to keep fans and well-wishers updated, and his first tweet was, “Thank you every1 4 all the love and support,” the Los Angeles Times reported, adding that he had amassed more than 5,000 followers by Wednesday night.

USC head football coach Pete Carroll told the Times technology is keeping Johnson connected and sane, adding, “He’s like the commander of the Starship Enterprise right now with all this equipment around. He’s got all the technology you need.” David Cohen is editor of Adweek's Social Pro Daily.
