I have to admit, one of the features of the iPad 3G that has me puzzled is the support for assisted GPS. True, because it has a cellular radio it has the required components to support navigation, but really, who wants to use a tablet with a 9.7 inch screen as a GPS in their car? Apparently ALK Technologies is convinced that there will be people who will want to use the iPad for navigation and has developed CoPilot Live HD and submitted it to the iTunes App Store. CoPilot Live HD provides turn-by-turn navigation in 3D and 3D mapping. The program also includes iPod music controls so that you don’t have to exit the application to switch music tracks or select a new playlist. CoPilot Live HD is expect to be available for purchase in the App Store in early May.
