Is Google Wave iPhone Friendly or an iPhone Battery Killer?

It took what seemed forever. But, I finally receive my Google Wave invitation about an hour ago. Recalling this TechCrunch item…

Google Wave’s Little Secret: It Already Works On The iPhone

…I pointed my iPod touch’s browser at…

wave.google.com

…and saw the browser compatibility warning TechCrunch mentioned (screesnhot above). Ignoring the warning, I moved on and waited a long time (perhaps a minute or more) before Google Wave’s iPhone friendly-ish (or at least non-hostile) screen appeared (see screenshot below)…

Moving between the Waves (the two you see there) and Contacts (4 people I know had Wave before me) was relatively fast. But, it seemed like Wave’s nature is to constantly refresh (it is real-time after all). Somehow I think leaving this on for a long time is a battery killer. The browser is, after all, constantly refreshing Waves.

To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure I “get” this Google Wave business. But, with Wave account and iPhone in hand, I’ll at least be able to try it now.
