The concept itself is pretty solid: a product placement agency headquartered in El Segundo, with top-shelf clients such as Nokia, Nabisco, and Crystal Geyser water, authors a web series that parodies the world of product placement.
Unfortunately, the debut episode of Keppler Entertainment’s As Seen on TV seems to have forgotten about the comedy placement. Despite the presence of Groundlings alumnus Chase Ulrich, who wrote the script and co-stars as Austrian agency owner Reichen Hemlich, this week’s eight-minute debut episode comes up flat:
But there’s still time to retool. FishbowlLA would urge producer Rick Keppler and co. to get nastier with the subject matter. There needs to be much more of a cynical, 21st century attitude going on here.
