Kobo Touch Coming to Australia in October?

Cnet Australia is reporting that the new Kobo Touch will soon be available on the Borders AU website.

There’s no word on the retail price or when the Kobo Touch will be available in brick-and-mortar stores, but according to Cnet’s sources the new ebook reader is going to be available in the first week of October.

This is great news for fans of the gadget, but I’m not so sure that this is a reliable source. I sought confirmation with both Kobo and Rogers & Cowan, and neither party would confirm even a vague launch window.

I also hesitate to rely on this report because Kobo has had a little difficulty in making the new Kobo Touch available outside of Canada and the USA. The German launch, which was supposed to happen in August, eventually got bumped to October. In fact, the retailer outside of North America that currently carries the Kobo Touch is Swindon Booksellers, a bookstore chain based in Hong Kong.
