Kentucky Canine Eyes Bigger Political Stage

Bow wow whatever.

The latest inane 2016 presidential news thread has begun.

A report over the weekend that the canine mayor of a small Kentucky town plans to “announce” her candidacy for the 2016 presidential election has been picked up by AP, New York magazine, Complex and others.

If Lucy Lou’s owner carries through on the announcement threat Sept. 5, it will maintain a long history of media coverage for the border collie. From the official bio:

Since becoming mayor, Lucy Lou has shared a Talking Points walk with Bill Geist (CBS Sunday Morning), accepted a $1000 stimulus check from Reader’s Digest and has placed three years in a row in the Best Elected Official category in CityBeat Magazine’s Best Of Cincinnati issue (winning 1st place in 2013).

Gannett designer Chloe Moloney certainly gets points for her Shepard Fairey-style “Hope” poster on the front page of today’s Kentucky Enquirer. The paper arrived this morning right around the time that 2016 feline presidential candidate Limberbutt McCubbins was outlining his stance on renewable energy. God help us all.
