Marie Claire is entering the reality show biz yet again, on the heels of (Groan. Sorry.) its former stab at the genre, Running in Heels. Editor in chief Joanna Coles spoke about the show very, very briefly the evening of her Learning Annex presentation with fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez.
“It’s not in any sufficient shape to talk about it,” she said. “You can expect more from the school of Running in Heels.”
Also newsworthy (although, fingers crossed, someday it won’t be), Marie Claire has received a warm response with regards to its “heavier” staffer. Columnist Ashley Falcon is five-foot-two, 220 pounds and a size 20 – a rarity among many women behind-the-scenes at fashion magazines, if our own peek into that world is anything to go by. Cole says the magazine has received a great response to Falcon, adding, “It’s been really gratifying. Very real.”
We’d argue that no one working in the world of high fashion can be real, regardless of weight, and that it might be just a smidge patronizing to equate a certain weight with a particular world view but, hey. Good on Marie Claire and a wish for continued success for Falcon.
