ModiFace has announced the release of its Shift photo editing app, which allows users to transform their photos using modern overlays and other effects.
The Shift app allows users to upload images from their camera roll or take new photos within the app. These pictures can then be transformed via a variety of layers, which cut or duplicate parts of the image to match certain patterns. Dragging a finger on the screen causes the ‘cut’ portions of the image to move, changing its appearance. A bar allows users to change the size of the affected area.
In addition to adding a layer, the Shift app also allows users to crop their photos, or alter an image’s brightness, contrast, color and detail. When users are satisfied with the final image, they can save it to their camera roll, or share it with friends via social media, email or text.
In a statement, Parham Aarabi, founder and CEO of ModiFace, commented on the app:
While ModiFace has focused on developing apps for the beauty industry in the past, we looked to take the photo-editing technology we’ve perfected to give users an app that makes it easy to create visually striking graphics with any image.
While Shift is available for anyone to download, the app was also developed as a supplement to ModiFace’s Coursera specialization for iOS developers. The three-course program will help students create their own photo-related apps for iOS.
As a university professor, education is something that is very important to me, and I am always interested in finding ways to help further the growth of the next generation of developers and innovators. My team and I are excited to see how developers are able to learn from Shift and use these ideas in their own applications.
Shift is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store.
