announces mobile-only email service

Mail.Ru Group’s has announced a new mobile-only free email product with the domain name. The email service is available on iOS and Android phones and tablets, and does not require users to create a password when registering. The service was designed with the company’s myMail email app in mind, which was released in November 2013.

The myMail email app allows users to access and manage multiple email accounts across Gmail, Hotmail, MSN, AOL and others. Users can set up push notifications for each individual account, filter notifications based on assigned folders, set “quiet time” filters for less distractions and more.

The email platform offers 150 GB of free email storage. When signing up, users verify their accounts by entering an activation code sent to their device. All email traffic through the platform is encrypted for additional security.

“Email began on the desktop and transferred to mobile without much thought to how people use mobile devices. We looked at mobile email with a fresh perspective, responding to users’ need for a flexible, secure and lightweight way to communicate via email,” said Dmitry Grishin, Co-founder and CEO of Mail.Ru Group.

According to recent data from app analytics company Distimo, the myMail app is the most downloaded third-party email client on iOS worldwide. As of March 2014, the app was No. 3 among all iOS email apps, behind only Gmail and Yahoo.

More information on the company’s new email service is available on the company’s website.
