Name The RTDNA/SPJ Convention, Win Free Admission For Two Years

The Society for Professional Journalists and the Radio Television Digital News Association (oh RTNDA, we hardly knew ye) are holding a joint conference in 2011 to save money, reduce competition for speakers, and make one event bigger rather than two smaller events (both the RTDNA and the SPJ recent conferences have been suffering from lower attendance in recent years).

Now it seems that the RTDNA wants to crowdsource the name of the thing–it’s true, RTDNA/SPJ is a mouthful.

You can submit as many name ideas as you want, and if yours is chosen, you’ll get free admission to the conference for two years.

Hmm. Last time we spoke with the SPJ, president Dave Aeikens told us that he wasn’t sure if the combined conference would be a permanent step or a one-off deal. “One step at a time,” he’d said. Now it seems that the organizations are intertwined through 2012, at least. Maybe they’d have extended the partnership later than that but they were worried about the world ending.
