Netflix executives have figured out that for any given account, there are usually a few different people picking out the movies. Yahoo News reports that the company will soon allow subscribers to set up multiple user profiles on the same account.
Cartoon avatars showed “who’s watching?” in the prototype on display at the E3 gaming conference in Los Angeles. The profiles will separate viewer recommendations based on each person’s viewing history, but there will still be a two-person limit for simultaneous streaming.
Netflix had started personalizing the browsing experience when it launched a Facebook integration in the U.S. in March, but at the time, there was no way to distinguish family members or roommates from the main subscriber.
The new profiles, which are still in development, are expected to roll out later this summer.
