Start spreading the news. The first book, set to arrive this fall, will be all about the Big Apple.

From this morning’s AP delivery of the announcement:

The first release will be an illustrated volume celebrating the magazine’s 50th anniversary and highlighting the coverage of New York City. The book will be divided into such themes as “Power,” “Families” and “Neighborhoods.”

Simon & Schuster president and publisher Jonathan Karp praised the magazine’s “exciting, vibrant and memorable journalism.”

The book will actually be getting a slight jump on the big Five-0 anniversary. The first issue of New York magazine was dated April 8, 1968.
