Nextdoor Adds More Ways for Local Businesses to Cope With Covid-19

URLs for gift cards and GoFundMe campaigns can be added to their pages

Neighborhood social network Nextdoor rolled out some more new features to help local businesses cope with the coronavirus pandemic.

Nextdoor said conversations on its platform about supporting local businesses have skyrocketed by 17 times over the past two weeks.

Gift card URLs can now be added to profiles on business pages, providing information on how customers can purchase gift cards to help support their favorite businesses while they are closed due to Covid-19.

Businesses that are still offering takeout or delivery options can indicate this on their business page so that customers know the details about placing orders.

If a business has an existing GoFundMe campaign, a link can be added to the story section of their business page so that more people become aware of it.

And posts by businesses are being added to the main Nextdoor feed so that members of a community have access to current and accurate information such as updates to hours, services or operations. The feature is currently available to businesses that have earned Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite status.

Finally, Nextdoor rolled out a small business guide for coronavirus relief this week, providing valuable information including details on the coronavirus relief package signed into law by President Donald Trump last week. David Cohen is editor of Adweek's Social Pro Daily.
