On the Podcast: BP continued, Paid social media, and Mom Central’s CEO


On the podcast today, we discussed how the BP oil spill disaster is playing out, and the research indicating a steady growth of social media sponsorships, or paid conversations.

The segue was perfect for our guest Stacy DeBroff, Founder/CEO of Mom Central Consulting. DeBroff is a force in the media on all things to do with parenting, and talked to us about the balance between paid advocacy and authenticity.

Though they do buy banners, brands strongly prefer the influence a blogger can bring, said DeBroff. However, “The minute you become too commercial, you lose your audience, and when you lose your audience you lose your influence,” she explained.
