Outplay Entertainment has announced the release of Bubble Genius on iOS and Android devices. The bubble-shooting game asks players to help an inventor named Penny defeat an evil scientist named Vee, who has stolen Penny’s bubble generator and is using it to cause trouble around town.
In each level of Bubble Genius, players have a different goal, like freeing friendly Furbbles trapped in bubbles (by clearing all of the bubbles surrounding them) or popping six bubbles in the top row of the formation, as examples. Each level has a different bubble formation, and players clear bubbles by shooting more bubbles at them from the bottom of the screen, with the goal of creating groups of three or more matching bubbles to remove them from the formation.
Gamers have a limited number of shots to complete each stage, and can use power-ups to finish difficult levels. One power-up is free, and charges as players earn a move streak by making multiple matches in a row (that is, without shooting a bubble that doesn’t result in a match). When charged, the power can be used to fire an explosive shot which destroys a group of bubbles on the screen.
Other power-ups are limited, and may give players a longer aiming trajectory line, as one example. Users receive a few of these power-ups for free as they’re unlocked over time, and can purchase additional items with premium currency.
Players earn up to three stars on each stage, depending on their score. Gamers can connect to their Facebook account to compare their scores with their friends’ scores on each level’s leaderboard.
In a statement, Richard Hare, president of Outplay Entertainment, commented:
We’re very excited to introduce players to Bubble Genius. They’ll love its charming characters, colorful world, and unique gameplay—and we’re sure they’ll get a charge out of Penny’s ingenious inventions!
