Outside Magazine Signs 3-Year Book Deal With Globe Pequot

The first offering is timed to the magazine's 40th anniversary

In more mag print meets book print news, Outside announced a three-year book deal with publisher Globe Pequot. Just as with the New York magazine/Simon & Schuster deal Fishbowl reported on earlier today, the first product of the Outside/Globe Pequot partnership is also timed to an anniversary, Outside magazine’s 40th.

The first book that will be published, a collection of photographs that have appeared in Outside’s pages across the decades, is called A View from the Edge of the World and will be released in September 2017 to match the timing of the magazine’s September 1977 launch.

“Globe Pequot is a partner whose high quality of work matches our own–in subject matter, mission, and visual standards,” said Outside editor Christopher Keyes in a statement. “Globe Pequot has the platform and passion to deliver Outside stories in an exceptional manner.”

Globe Pequot, publisher of books that “celebrate the unique or iconic characteristics of specific places,” per its website’s description, became an imprint of Rowman & Littlefield when it was acquired from Morris Communications in 2014. With nature, sports and outdoor recreation as some of its major focuses, Outdoor seems a natural fit for a partnership.
