Peter Wallsten Upped at WaPo

Political writer Peter Wallsten has been named Deputy National Political Editor at WaPo. The promotion was announced by the Politics team before Christmas. In his new capacity, Wallsten has been charged with “infusing [WaPo‘s] enterprise reporting with his sophisticated and unconventional approach to politics. The priority will be on telling readers things they don’t know that they actually want or need to know.”

Before joining WaPo, Wallsten covered national politics for the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times. Before coming to Washington, he covered state politics as a Tallahassee reporter for the newspaper formerly known as the St. Petersburg Times and as state capital bureau chief for the Miami Herald. Wallsten starts work January 6.

A big FishbowlDC congrats on the new gig, Peter!
