Pinterest Tells Android Users to Take a Shortcut

App shortcuts will roll out for iOS later this month

Pinterest launched four application shortcuts for its Android app: Lens, Search, Explore and Saved.

Android users who long-press on the Pinterest app can access the four new app shortcuts, which can also be dragged directly to their home screens.

Pinterest Android engineer Rahul Pandey said in a blog post that Android users are currently the social network’s fastest-growing group, adding that the shortcuts will work on Android 7.1 or higher and providing the following descriptions:

  • Lens: Discover ideas inspired by anything you point your camera at.
  • Explore: See which ideas are trending today.
  • Saved: Jump right to that recipe or any other idea you saved.
  • Search: Type in a search to find ideas on Pinterest.

Pandey added that app shortcuts will roll out for Pinterest’s iPhone app “later this month.” David Cohen is editor of Adweek's Social Pro Daily.
