Electronic Arts and PopCap Games announced the release of Plants vs. Zombies Heroes on mobile. The collectible card game allows users to play as both plants and zombies in single-player and multiplayer battles.
Specifically, the game’s single-player adventure mode allows users to complete two sets of missions, with one set for plants and the other set for zombies. Users can also compete against other players in ranked and casual multiplayer matches.
In each match, players are challenged to defeat the enemy hero before their own hero can be defeated. On each turn, users can spend a limited number of sun points to deploy plants and zombies to lanes on the battlefield. Once both players have taken a turn, the fight phase begins.
During the fight phase, the attack and health stats of the units in each lane are compared, and damage is dealt accordingly. If a lane doesn’t contain an enemy, a unit will damage the hero instead.
Users can earn free and premium currency as they play, which can be spent on card packs in the game’s store. Users can also purchase special content bundles with real money.
Elsewhere, users can recycle unwanted cards to earn a separate currency, which they can spend to craft new cards for their collections.
In a statement, Brian Lindley, senior producer of Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, commented:
Plants vs. Zombies Heroes started a few years ago as a paper card game prototype and a fun way for our team to enjoy playing with their favorite PvZ characters in their spare time. Since then it has evolved into a hilarious, crazy, over-the-top collectible card game that’s fun for everyone but packed with depth, secrets and strategy. We can’t wait for our fans to start playing.
