Pokémon Infiltrates Google Maps in April Fool’s Day Prank

Google published a video on Monday announcing a new job role and challenge: Pokémon master.

“At Google, we seek to hire the most exceptional people,” says a video announcement published on Monday by Google. “Pokémon masters are the world’s greatest digital explorers. And their passion for exploring will take our maps to the next dimension.”

Applicants are held to the task of using an iPhone or Android to find and capture “wild” Pokémon throughout Google Maps. Only “strong willed” applicants who collect all Pokémon will be invited to the Googleplex for a final hiring round. “The winner will start at Google September 1st, 2014.”

Just update the app and press start to locate the hidden Pokémon. To qualify, you must catch them all. The deadline is April 2 at 2:00 PDT.

A prank? The video’s disclaimer says “the role of Pokémon master is not yet available” and suggests that you visit Google’s jobs page.
