Playbook has a new sound. Beginning today, Playbook co-authors Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman are delivering a daily, 90-second, aural version of their morning newsletter on Amazon’s Alexa.
“Have you ever thought, ‘Wow, I would love the best of Playbook read to me!’ Well, we read your mind,” they wrote in Playbook this morning when they delivered the news.
Thanks to the elections, interest in Alexa’s news and politics-related offerings has been growing. The Jeff Bezos-owned Washington Post made its Alexa debut in March with flash briefings from Chris Cillizza, expanding its offerings since to include an Elections skill. Just this month, the Duke Reporters’ Lab introduced a Share the Facts skill, which draws on the output of a number of organizations to fact-check candidate statements that users query.
According to Amazon, Alexa has already been asked millions of elections-related questions.
Here’s Playbook’s first entry.
