PR Stunts: ‘Big Bank Bikini Beach Party’

You might not think of downtown Manhattan in early December as an ideal location for a “Big Bank Bikini Beach Party”. Yet the marketing firm Creative Disruptions saw the Deutsch Bank Wall Street lobby–which happens to be one of the city’s few “publicly owned private spaces”–as the best spot to shoot their new viral video designed to promote MOB, an event locator app.

The purpose of the video is to remind us that all of these sweet young bikini’d things wouldn’t have heard of the “impromptu, inspired local happening” had it not been for the brilliance of the MOB app.

We’re not quite sure exactly how the free app works, how designer Hatch Labs plans to make money off the deal or why iTunes would rate the product “12+” due to “Infrequent/Mild Simulated Gambling” and other moral offenses. Most importantly, we wonder why Creative Disruptions chose such a large space to shoot the clip, since the lobby makes this “party” look sparsely populated and depressing.
