Politico editor Carrie Budoff Brown and editor in chief John Harris announced some changes today.
Editorial director Blake Hounshell has been named editor in chief of Politico Magazine, “which he helped found in 2013 along with Susan Glasser,” write Brown and Harris. Hounshell will still provide input on Politico as a whole, where “he’ll continue to advise Carrie and Paul on the overall growth and direction of POLITICO.com, which he helped shepherd through a major redesign, a CMS overhaul and the launch of many smaller projects along the way. And we’ll probably ask him for a snappy headline or two every now and then.” Hounshell joined Politico in 2013, coming over from Foreign Policy, where he had been managing editor.
Stephen Heuser gets a new role, for himself and the publication, as editorial director of ideas and features, which incorporate his role as editor of digital policy magazine The Agenda. He’ll also work on “the development of new and innovative content that capitalizes on POLITICO’s industry-leading policy depth” and continue to serve as editor of Politico Magazine.
