Publishers Weekly Sold To Former Publisher

A newly-formed company headed by the man who published Publisher’s Weekly in the 1980s and 1990s is purchasing Publisher’s Weekly from Reed Business Information, minonline reports.

George W. Slowick, president of PWxyz LLC, will retain all current employees of the title, according to a statement from the investment bank financing the sale.

Slowick told minonline he wants “to expand PW’s reach into new audiences through digital platforms and international extension.”

This continues Reed Business Information’s sell-off: last month, RBI sold Library Journal and School Library Journal to Media Source and eight design titles to Sandow Media; in February RBI unloaded four titles to Canon Communications.

By our count, that leaves 26 more titles in RBI’s stable, many in construction, manufacturing, and hospitality. Any takers? After the jump, we’ll list the pubs that are still in limbo, waiting for a buyer.
