RBI Employees Buying Their Dead Magazines Begins To Become Boring

In what marks the fourth recent instance of Reed Business Information ex-employees buying and relaunching RBI’s shuttered titles, two of the company’s Construction Media Group’s ex-publishers have purchased thirteen folded titles and plan to relaunch them soon.

Folio: reports that the deal includes Building Design+Construction, Custom Builder, Construction Equipment, Housing Giants, Professional Builder, Professional Remodeler, Construction Bulletin, SpecCheck, BDCnetwork.com, LogInAndLearn.com, VisibleCity.com, ConstructionEquipment.com, and HousingZone.com.

RBI shuttered 23 of its titles after it failed to find buyers for them; since that time, the employees and publishers of those magazines have been buying them back and relaunching them.

FishbowlNY reports that Brian Ceraolo, publisher of RBI’s Supply Chain Group, purchased Logistics Management, Modern Materials Handling, Supply Chain Management Review and Material Handling Product News. Hotels publisher Dan Hogan bought the title and Foodservice Equipment and Supplies. And Jim Langhenry and Steven Rourke, both former RBI publishers, bought Control Engineering, Consulting-Specifying Engineer and Plant Engineering.
