‘Real Housewife’ LuAnn de Lesseps and Bravo Exec to Co-Host Hamptons Charity Gala

Bravo senior vice president of original programming and development (and Media Beat guest) Andy Cohen and Real Housewife of New York Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, are hosting a Memorial Day Weekend gala to benefit Miracle House, a charity that helps caregivers and patients who come to New York in search of medical treatment.

The May 29 event takes place at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club. Grammy-winning Motown singer Thelma Houston (“Don’t Leave Me This Way“) will perform.

NEW YORK, May 17, 2010 Miracle House, a New York City charity that provides temporary housing, meals and advocacy to caregivers and patients coming to the city for critical medical treatment, announced today that its 20th Anniversary Gala on Memorial Day Weekend will be hosted by Bravo’s Andy Cohen and Countess LuAnn de Lesseps. Cohen is Bravo’s SVP of Original Programming and Development and host of Bravo’s Watch What Happens:Live!. Countess de Lesseps stars in The Real Housewives of New York City. She recently authored the book “Class with the Countess” and just released her debut single, the dance song “Money Can’t Buy You Class.” The event will be held on May 29, 2010 at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club in Bridgehampton, New York.

The evening’s featured performer will be “Grammy Legend” Thelma Houston. With Motown Records, Thelma claimed the top of the Pop, R&B and Dance charts with her high-powered rendition of “Don’t Leave Me This Way.” That Gold Record classic gave Thelma the distinction of being the first solo female artist at Motown to win the Grammy Award for “Best R&B Female Vocal Performance.” Ms. Houston has performed for President Barack Obama and on the hit TV show, “American Idol.”

Other celebrities including Bethenny Frankel, Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb, Tommy Hilfiger, and renowned artists Ross Bleckner and Damien Hirst have painted ceramic plates that will be auctioned off during the evening’s celebrity art auction.

This year, Miracle House will honor Amy Chanos and Jim Chanos. Amy is one of the organization’s founding Board Members and has brought to this role exceptional commitment and compassion. Jim has been a magnanimous benefactor and long-time supporter of the Miracle House mission.
