By now everybody has heard the news that Rebecca Black has surpassed 100 million YouTube views for her music video ‘Friday’, so how is she celebrating? Apparently by getting herself a huge billboard smack dab in the middle of Hollywood.
According to David Gianatasio at Adweek, “She’s put up a huge billboard in Hollywood, congratulating herself for topping 100 million YouTube views in a little more than two months. Judging from the preponderance of negative (in many cases, horrified) reactions to the song, it seems no one else was going to thank her in such a public fashion, so she had to do it herself.”
According to gossip news site GOT, the billboard was a gift from her parents to congratulate her success. They reported that, according to Ryan Seacrest, Black was “given the billboard as congratulations from her parents for surpassing the milestone.” I only hope that Rebecca’s parents didn’t spend any of the revenue earned from ‘Friday’ on the massive billboard. Or have they forgotten that Rebecca told Jay Leno that she would be donating all the proceeds from Friday to Japan and her school?
If you happen to be in Hollywood you can check out the billboard in person at the corner of LaBrea and San Vincente, right over the Subway. What do you think about Rebecca Black’s celebratory billboard? Scroll down and let us know in the comments.
