KNX 1070 Wins Three Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

The Radio Television Digital News Association has announced this year’s regional recipients of Edward R. Murrow Awards for electronic journalism.

The big LA winner is KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO. In the “Radio, Large Market” category for Region 2, which encompasses California, Guam, Hawaii, and Nevada, KNX was recognized for both “Overall Excellence” and “Breaking News Coverage” for its reports on area flooding in early 2010. The station also won in the “Audio News Documentary” category for Andrew Mollenbeck’s special report “Haiti: Hope in the Ruins” (listen here).

Haiti was also at the center of one of LA’s two TV winners, KABC Channel 7, which was recognized for its report “Haiti: Six Months Later.” Finally, NBC 4 morning co-anchor Alycia Lane won a “Writing” prize for her piece on the rare genetic disorder Angelman Syndrome. Her report is below:
