Rupert Murdoch Doesn’t Want to Buy Newsweek

Looks like we can weed out a couple more big names from the list of potential Newsweek buyers, starting with News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch, says Yahoo! News.

A News Corp. spokesperson told Yahoo! that the media behemoth had “no plans to big” on Newsweek, which The Washington Post Co. put up for sale last week.

Murdoch isn’t the only one who’s disavowed interest in the beleaguered weekly. Publishing heavyweight Philip Anschutz, who bought The Weekly Standard from News Corp., doesn’t want Newsweek either.

Also apparently off the list: New York Mayor and Bloomberg BusinessWeek publisher Michael Bloomberg.
