Mighty Games, comprised of Hipster Whale’s Matt Hall and Andy Sum (the creators of Crossy Road), and entertainment industry veterans Ben Britten and Matt Ditton, has launched Shooty Skies on iOS. The endless shooting and flying game challenges players to drag their finger around the screen to shoot at oncoming enemies, collect coins and earn points.
In each game of Shooty Skies, players drag their finger or thumb around the screen to control the movement of their character, which automatically shoots at oncoming enemies. By lifting their finger from the screen, the character charges a more powerful shot, which can be fired by touching the screen. Gamers fly toward the top of the screen, and will continue until they are hit by an enemy or projectile. If players survive long enough, they’ll eventually encounter boss fights, which separate ‘levels,’ or blocks of gameplay within each game.
As players progress in each game, they earn points which allow them to earn mystery boxes containing various amounts of coins. In turn, these coins can be spent in a claw machine to unlock new playable characters. Players can purchase many individual characters instantly for $0.99 each, while Sir Oinks-a-Lot, a mechanical pig, is available for $4.99, and permanently doubles the coins players collect going forward. Some characters aren’t available via in-app purchase, and must instead be unlocked by completing other tasks.
Shooty Skies is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store.
