Should Wheaties Put Caitlyn Jenner on a Cereal Box?

One PR executive says "yes."

You may have heard the name Caitlyn Jenner at some point over the past few days.

Following the big reveal, there’s been lots of speculation about whether Ms. Jenner will have some endorsement deals coming her way soon. For example, the New York Post’s Page Six blog told us last night that MAC Cosmetics sought Jenner as a spokeswoman long before the Vanity Fair cover even went public.

Of course, many people asked a natural follow-up question: given the iconic status of a 1977 Wheaties box featuring an image of then-Olympic star Bruce Jenner, should the company follow up by featuring Caitlyn on its next box?

When contacted by ABC News and Hollywood Life, Wheaties reps released identical statements:

“Bruce Jenner has been a respected member of Team Wheaties, and Caitlyn Jenner will continue to be. We always appreciate hearing from our consumers, but of course we do not discuss our future marketing plans.”

Andy Morris, CEO of Code Morris in New York, thinks the time is right:

“Wheaties should enlist Caitlyn Jenner to appear on the Wheaties box. What a great and momentous step that would be towards promoting acceptance of all types of individuals. If I was brokering the deal, I’d suggest that endorsement fees be donated to an LGBT nonprofit. Wheaties has an opportunity to show the world how far we have come as a nation in embracing diversity–and achievement.”

Not sure what our readers think, but something tells us that Wheaties would be glad to share in some of the unprecedented media attention that Ms. Jenner has received this week.
