Snapchat: Here’s How to Take Snaps in Portrait Mode

Focus on your subject

Did you know that Snapchat allows you to create photo and video Snaps in Portrait mode? This mode blurs the background behind your subject’s face. Our guide will show you how to do this.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the Snapchat application on iOS.

Step 1: On the Snapchat camera screen, tap the down arrow (“v”) on the right side of the screen.

Step 2: Tap “Portrait.”

From there, the camera will help you create a good shot by providing prompts on the screen as needed. For instance, it might tell you to “Move Closer” to your subject.

Step 3: When you’re ready to take a Snap, tap or tap and hold the capture button at the bottom of the screen, depending on whether you want to create a photo or video Snap, respectively.
