Laundry Service, an independent social media agency and sister agency to PR firm Middleberg Communications, was recently selected by specialty retailer Big M Inc. as digital AOR for its two discount women’s fashion brands, Mandee and Annie sez.

Laundry Service is currently responsible for creating Big M’s digital and social media marketing infrastructure and backbone as part of its rebranding and efforts to encourage “Mandee and Annie sez fans [to] continuously share their love for these iconic retail brands both online and in stores”. The cornerstone of the program to date has been promoting a partnership between Mandee and boy band One Direction to sell albums with a giveaway to a New York City concert on social media.

Procter & Gamble has hired Omnicom‘s Ketchum and Marina Maher Communications to handle global PR for its future Olympics efforts. The PR responsibilities do not include brand work but instead focus on the company’s corporate program on the global and regional levels, as well as within the host country. The team’s assignments, which include the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, target effective integration and coordination among brand programs and disciplines of various agencies and do not designate a single brand agency leader.

The James Brown Family Foundation has retained Country Road Communications to manage the publicity for the foundation’s various charitable outreach programs. The appointment dovetails with the announcement that rock legend Mick Jagger and film and television producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13) will co-produce a biopic chronicling the life of the Godfather of Soul.

Deanna Brown-Thomas, daughter of James Brown and president of the James Brown Family Foundation, envisions a PR campaign highlighting milestones of the film’s production, as well as to raise visibility for the foundation that both bears her father’s name and upholds his musical and philanthropic legacy.
