One out of every nine Facebook users have at least tried a music-themed game, but one out of every three people on the social network play games.
That data comes from a survey by MXP4, which creates music-themed games, and first announced the results at the MIPTV/Connected Creativity forum in Cannes.
The findings in MXP4,’s survey seem to defy the consistently high ranking of music-themed pages, which have some of the largest fan counts and greatest engagement rates on the site.
However, the survey also shows that people are willing to pay for an improved game experience, which may present opportunity for the music-themed applications in this space. While only six percent would buy extra items on Facebook games today, the research revealed that nearly 12 percent would pay extra to have access to their favorite artist’s latest tracks in interactive music games.
Other key findings:
- 96 percent would like more opportunities to compete against their friends when playing Facebook games;
- 49 percent said the they would play games on Facebook for the chance to win exclusive tickets, merchandise or opportunities to meet their favorite artists;
- 12 percent would pay extra to have access to their favorite artist’s latest tarcks on interactive music games.
“We can see that Facebook users want more from games on social networks,” Albin Serviant, CEO of MXP4,, said in a press release. “They want to win prizes, but also have the opportunity to compete with their friends and personalize their games with music.”
While the survey represents a small snapshot of Facebook users, Serviant went on to say, the results demonstrate that there is huge potential for revenue. The survey questioned more than 225 regular Facebook users, and MXP4, says the research provides an indication of current trends and views.
