TechCrunch Has an Anonymous Fan

People are only human, and typos occur, so TechCrunch points out that many Websites have bought URLs that are similar to the correct ones, such as wwwgoogle.com directing users to Google, wwwyahoo.com pointing Web surfers to Yahoo! and wwwmicrosoft.com steering users to Microsoft’s Bing search engine.

And squatters have sought to take advantage of poor typing, scooping up URLs including wwwbing.com, wwwtechcrunch.com, wwwmyspace.com, wwwdigg.com and twiter.com.

However, an anonymous Web surfer is apparently a big fan of TechCrunch, as he or she purchased the URL wwwtwitter.com from GoDaddy.com and set it up to redirect users to TechCrunch. TechCrunch reports that the URL was registered in November 2007 and won’t be up for renewal until 2014.

For any fans of this blog, wwwwebnewser.com is still up for grabs.
