‘The Gods of Mars’ by Edgar Rice Burroughs is our Free eBook Today

The above trailer was the inspiration for today’s free ebook.  A new movie is coming out soon, nd it’s (very loosely) based on the first Barsoom novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, A Princess of Mars.

Unfortunately for me, I already suggested that book last month. So today I am promoting the second book in the series.

The Gods of Mars was originally published in 1918. It details John Carter’s second trip to Mars. Wikipedia has more details:

At the end of the first book, A Princess of Mars, John Carter is unwillingly transported back to Earth. The Gods of Mars begins with his arrival back on Barsoom (Mars) after a ten-year separation from his wife Dejah Thoris, his unborn child, and the Red Martian people of the nation of Helium, whom he has adopted as his own. Unfortunately, Carter materializes in the one place on Barsoom from which nobody is allowed to depart: the Valley Dor, which is the Barsoomian afterlife.

You can find this eBook at Feedbooks, Project Gutenberg, and in most eBookstores.

P.S. Note that the movie is only vaguely related to the books. Before you put your money down, I’d suggest that you seek out the rest of the trailers. I was disappointed by the differences.
