The Latest From Japan: Rubber Underwear for Smartphones

Japanese trends are always fascinating, in that they are completely incomprehensible. This time, it’s rubber underwear for your smartphones. They are supposed to protect your home button, but I think it’s popular because it’s silly and it’s Japanese. Plus, they are called smartpants, despite being smart or pants.

The pants were designed by 27 year old toy designer, Hirashi Moriuchi who thought his phones would look amusing with panties. So far, the panties have made his company140 million yen, making them a very profitable amusement. The smartpants are sold in vending machines in female and male versions, the latter includes a bulge you know where.
